I had to edit the last post. Ever draw something and think its great, then come back to it not even five minutes later and want to burn the thing? I was so satisfied but after a later review all the problems with it just hit me in the face... just bad from head to toe. I thought about making a post to analyze where i went wrong and what would make it better but i'd rather forget about it for now. The problem was obviously lack of thought.

Going to do dailies for a while, should be good exercise... :D

"Going to do dailies for a while"
expecially if someone look at it. only an "this like me" or "this not like me" is helpful. my old art-school theacher says:"draw and then put your drawing into a closet and don't watch it for one year". i dont know if this is a good advice but....
sorry for the long comment.

Yes, I have that problem quite often and it's enough to drive one insane. I'll finish a piece, think it's great, look at it a few hours later and think it's crap. oye veigh...

I guess that's what keeps the artist on his or her toes? yes?

Great work...love your characters.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers,

Ana

Hey Mike,
This is a lovely gesture. I seem to be constantly debating whether to pull old/poor drawings or leave them up as a reminder of the progress I need to make. Tough call. Great post

Thanks much everyone!
That's good advice to keep things fresh and identify progress, Flaviano. I'm going down the road of draw everyday to get better. I know i stopped drawing daily for a while, its just really really bad to settle for something when you know you can do better.

I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving up old drawings when you've gotten better, that's one thing i really enjoy seeing from my fav artists. What's off to me is putting up new drawings that are half hearted efforts. When i look at my own work, even if its a quick sloppy sketch, i'd like to be able to say "yah this is where i am right now". Hope that makes sense...

Knife, thanks, i'll get back to her this week then :)

TY for the link German, funny coincidence, he does nice work.
